Rhode Island drivers more likely to get into car accidents

If drivers in Rhode Island feel like they are constantly dodging unsafe drivers and car accidents, they are not alone. The ninth annual America's Best Drivers Report by Allstate said Rhode Island has some of the worst drivers in the country. The report ranked Providence as the third worst city for safe driving. The report said that on average, drivers in the city get into a car accident every five-and-a-half years.

Traumatic Brain Injury and Headaches

A headache is a common result of traumatic brain injury and is known as post-traumatic headache. The same trauma can cause both injuries. The frequency and severity of the post-traumatic headaches can diminish with the passage of time. However, just like traumatic brain injury can become persistent with continuing symptoms, post-traumatic headaches can also persist for years.

Distracted driving has become a very familiar term in Rhode Island and has contributed to many car accidents in the state and throughout the U.S. To address the increase in traffic fatalities and serious accidents caused by distracted driving, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is giving seven states a grant to try to increase road safety and reduce car accidents.

Traumatic brain injury has often times been called the "invisible" injury because at times victims of traumatic brain injury do not, on the outside, appear any different than average people and because often times the imaging on the brain of the victim in terms of x-rays, CT scans or MRIs are negative.

Fatal car accidents dropped during first six months of 2013

Fatal car accidents have decreased by five percent so far this year compared to the number of fatal traffic accidents reported in the first six months of 2012, according to the National Safety Council. The NSC reported that an estimated 16,620 fatal car accidents have happened from January to June this year, compared to the 17,430 fatalities reported during the same time last year in the U.S.

Distracted walking leads to more pedestrian injuries

Pedestrian accidents can result in very serious and even fatal injuries in Rhode Island. While many pedestrian accidents happen due to motorists being distracted behind the wheel, more pedestrians are also becoming distracted and may be getting hurt as a result.
