Man killed in pedestrian accident on a Rhode Island highway

The sudden loss of a loved one or family member can be a life-altering experience that no individual ever wants to face. The emotional toll is overwhelming and finding a way to recover and move on can seem impossible. Unfortunately, traffic accidents involving pedestrians are one of the top causes of death in the country. A recent pedestrian accident in Rhode Island claimed the life of a 22-year-old man.

The man was fatally hit by a motorist while he was walking along the side of a Providence highway. The accident occurred on the Washington Bridge a few hours before daybreak. Authorities reported that the 22-year-old was dead upon their arrival.

One vehicle driver had been able to dodge the victim; however, a second motorist wasn't as fortunate and collided with him. The investigation is ongoing and identities have yet to be released. While it is unknown what the ultimate result of the investigation will be, all parties involved could benefit from a diligent review of the facts and circumstances in conjunction with Rhode Island state laws.

Even though there is no way to bring back the victim killed in this pedestrian accident, his family might be able to pursue legal measures to ease their pain and suffering. Rhode Island laws allow for a victim's family to file a wrongful death claim in civil court when there is evidence suggesting a fatality was caused by a driver's negligence. Monetary relief can be sought to help with funeral costs, burial expenses and other damages permissible under our laws.
